Story of a semi-brokered presidential convention in the future by author whose interest springs from childhood when listening to tales by an historical figure, a retired Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, who in the course of a decade had actually used those gavels in his case as Chairman of national Presidential Conventions. While this story is fictional, it raises questions of a constitutional crisis and a future catastrophe which perhaps can not be prevented at the convention. The powerful chairman of one state delegation has inside knowledge which he can not divulge but must find another way to oppose the frightening choice being encouraged by advisors to the Presidential Nominee. But then a TV talk show inadvertently spells doom for the convention's choice. Then follows twists, turns, and machinations by powerful and brave "brokers" in the person of a few state chairmen who rally their delegates in opposition to the frightening momentum of the mistaken majority. Yet, could their efforts be in vain, thwarted by a new constitutional crisis. The answer is revealed just prior to the date set for the new president to be sworn into office?
